This Day in Dayton, 28 March

Robert Kriebel’s column of March 29, 2009, featured a piece that Doug Skinner, who grew up in Sheffield Township and missed graduating from Dayton High School by one year, had published in an unnamed “new outdoors magazine.” The South Fork of the Wildcat flows past Dayton and Wyandotte. Doug describes local lore about an old woman who was a witch, Shawnee graveyards, and bobcat and black panther sightings. He points out that the Wildcat is one of only three Indiana rivers that are designated State Scenic Rivers. This gem is available right close to home.
