This Day in Dayton, 26 February

A picture in the paper showed the basketball bankboard at the Andy and Jan Anderson home painted half with Purdue’s gold and black colors and half with Indiana’s white and red. It seems Amy Anderson had suggested this as a solution to the problems posed by her siblings, as each was attending one of the state rivals: sister Lyn was a Purdue freshman and brother Scott an IU junior. Amy sent a letter to the paper about the friendly compromise, and the paper was interested enough to send out a photographer and do a story about it (“Rivals, friends, family: Painting nets a compromise,” Journal and Courier, 26 February 1987)
