This Day in Dayton, 25 February

In 1865 Samuel Favorite returned from Chicago, having prospered in the meat packing business during the Civil War. In February 1865 he and George Kellenberger sold the Dayton Mill to S. D. Strother for $18,000 (Sesqui 77). Mr. Favorite soon turned his general store over to his son Calvin and moved to Lafayette.
