This Day in Dayton, 18 February

At its meeting on February 17, 1987, the Area Plan Commission decided that future planning around the SIA site should “encourage development and preserve a good quality of life.” The following three goals were adopted: (1) participate in the effort to encourage development, (2) use planning and zoning to minimize a negative impact, and (3) work to channel information about changes to the comunity. Particular mention was made of the banks of the Wildcat Creek and the zoning patterns of the town of Dayton. Zoning changes would be used to develop a comprehensive land use plan in the next two months. (“Plan Group sets goals for area around auto plant,” Journal and Courier, 18 February 1987)
