This Day in Dayton, 8 January

In January 1988 the Purdue Exponent ran a story about the lawsuits filed by families on Haggerty Lane (County Road 200 South) over the amount of compensation landowners would receive to sell their land. The sales were forced by eminent domain as a result of the building of the SIA plant and the planned widening of the road. The suits would eventually be settled, and the reporter said that it appeared the City of Lafayette offered to pay more to avoid protracted legal action (“Legal Disputes Simmer Down between Families, SIA Plant, ”Purdue Exponent Welcome Back Issue, 8 January 1988)
