This Day in Dayton, 28 August

On Thursday evening, August 28th, 1862, at 7:00 P.M., the Hon. Albert White spoke at Dayton. White, the local representative to Congress, was on the stump and appeared at several locations in the county during this time. He spoke favorably of the “emancipation scheme,” hoping to calm fears about the plan (Courier, August 27, 1862; Kriebel).
