This Day in Dayton, 14 August
In August 1983, Dayton children looked forward to the August 23 opening of school that year because they would be in a new school building. A TSC newsletter featured the new school and quotes from Dayton student Julie Grimes, Dan Jones, and Michael Edwards. The building cost $4,425,000, and this amount was drawn from the Cumulative Building Fund. Dayton was particularly pleased since the School Corporation had seemed bent on moving the school to sit beside Wainwright Middle School when discussion began to replace the old 1916 building.
