This Day in Dayton, 7 June

In a June 7, 1853 item in the Lafayette Courier, W. J. Snoddy, of Sheffield township was listed among the members of the Tippecanoe County Agricultural Society that was meeting that week to plan the county fair. William J. Snoddy was one of the earliest teachers in the township. He served three terms as county commissioner.  During his first term he helped supervise the construction of the second courthouse. He also served as county surveyor and one term as state representative. He was an elder at the Presbyterian church.
