This Day in Dayton, 11 June

That same June of 1861, Dayton folk, who had not yet recovered from the shock of Kirkpatrick’s death, were saddened to receive news of the death of nineteen-year-old David Bush, grandson of town founder William Bush, at a hospital at New Albany, Indiana, of measles. The body was returned and interred in Dayton cemetery. Dayton had received its second death of the Civil War.
