This Day in Dayton, 2 May

On May 2, 1933, a tornado again (there had been on in 1859) went down Haggarty Lane (SR 200 S), killing Wilbur Chamberlin. The wind blew the roof off the barn and bent him backward into a milk bucket. It also did some damage at the John G. Widmer farm, where John was doing the milking: it blew out some windows and turned over the chicken house (Julia Widmer Yost; Sesqui 77: A History of Dayton [1977]).
