This Day in Dayton, 7 December

Dayton Brownie Troop 73 made a float for the Christmas parade in the Lafayette Christmas parade in 1987. The float held a nativity scene, a contemporary fireplace with gifts, and astronauts on a silver artificial tree to represent Christmas past, present, and future. It was created by the third graders in co-leader Pam Crum’s garage and assembled the morning of the parade in the parking lot at North Ninth and Brown Streets. The town of Dayton also had a float, sponsored by SIA, titled “Christmas Present and Future.” It won third place in the adult division.
