This Day in Dayton, 6 December
A fire on December 5, 2012, resulted in the death of a 63-year-old woman on Cagles Mill Drive. Dorothy Sollers was planning to move into assisted living in a month when the fire occurred. She tried to get out of the house and became stuck in the doorway. Neighbors tried to get her out of the house. Keith Henderson, Kyla Perkins, and others tried to get her out of the apartment while Brian Frantz used a hose to try to put out the fire. Sheffield Township Fire Department and Lafayette Fire Department responded to the fire. Sollers was transported to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis where she died on December 6, surrounded by family. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
