This Day in Dayton, 21 November

A tornado blew the roof off Tippecanoe Mall on Sunday morning, November 20, 1983. Most of the damage was in the center of the mall. JC Penney, on the north, was the only store not to close for at least three days. Blocks moved their merchandise to a store vacated by Montgomery Ward. There was no report on when Osco Drug would reopen. (Journal and Courier, 21 November 1983)
