This Day in Dayton, 22 October

In the October 22, 2003 edition of The Ad Leader, the Lamb and Heart Americana Shoppe, with owners Traci and Jamie Bratton, was featured. The shop opened in January 2003, in the former Widmer-Small drug store. The article described the shop as greeting customers with “country warmth, wonderful smells and charming sights.” The Brattons bought the business from the previous owner and moved it to Dayton from the Koehler Brothers nursery site on SR26 (nowLafayette’s South Street). They expanded the product line with candles, kitchen items, quilts, handmade soap, pottery, and baskets. They planned a special Christmas opening with the store full of Christmas trees and all sorts of Christmas items, and a special shopping night for husbands called “Husband’s Night Out” when husbands could select a gift for their wives and have it gift wrapped by the staff. The business moved briefly to Lafayette under the name Walnut Street Traditions, then returned to Dayton in the old fire station building at 294 Market Street. The business is now located at Wea Creek Orchard:
